It shall be the duty of the water superintendent to attend to the pumping plant, machinery and distributing system of the city water works, and to superintend the tapping of the city water mains and the installation of water connections and to read meters and report all meter readings to the city recorder, and to send water samples to the State Public Health Division as required by state regulations; and to perform such other duties as the city council may from time to time require.
